Materials, Imaging, Number Properties

No matter what age or stage of learning children are at, they may still need to follow this process.

Materials: Equipment is used by both the teacher and children to solve the problem.

Imaging: Teacher manipulates material behind a screen so children cannot see it. They are to ‘create an image’ in their mind of how the materials help solve the problem.

Number Properties: Children use number equations to solve the problems. This can be done mentally or in written form.
